In creating this paper, Legion worked directly with artists and also used its vast experience gained from producing new papers for emerging markets. The result is a superior-quality, 140 lb (300 gsm) black watercolor paper that is pH-neutral, acid-free, lignin-free, and chlorine-free. Because it's synthetically sized, it contains no animal gelatin. It offers the opportunity to build light into paintings, transform negative space into positive space, and find new avenues for expression. Developed for use with metallic, pearlescent, iridescent, and interference watercolor paints, Stonehenge Aqua Cold Press Black Watercolor Paper also welcomes gouache, acrylics, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pigment sticks, pastels, pens, markers, gel pens, and alcohol inks. The surface accepts multiple layers of color in a controllable manner, and has excellent color holdout — which means bright colors remain bright after drying. Colors lift well and blend perfectly.
