White Nights Granulating Watercolour Tubes 10ml – 33 Individual Shades
All paints in this series consist of two to three pigments that have different particle sizes and specific gravity. These colours fascinate by the movement of pigments in water. Most interestingly they show their extraordinary character in wet work, when a large amount of water on the sheet allows pigment particles to move unhindered. The effects of pigment lamination appear some time after the application of strokes and are best seen in dried work. In the paints there are included also special additives that stabilize the movement of pigment particles in the mixtures. The granulating paints have noble complex colours and will enrich classical painting with the original effects of granulation and lamination of pigments, inspire the creation of abstract compositions with unusual technical solutions. The nature of the effects for granulating series significantly depends on the type of paper: the use of watercolour paper with a pronounced texture (Fin and Torchon) will increase the granulation effect.

Recently Schmincke launched a range of super-granulating watercolour paints in their professional Horadam range. The distinctive feature of this range is that the paints are based on pigments that have a natural tendency to granulate. By combining two or more pigments in one paint, they complement and enhance the colour in combinations and create an incredible texture on the surface of the paper.
The paints are bound with Kordofan gum arabic from the southern Sahara. Due to the natural source of the binder, the gum arabic does tend to differ slightly year on year. Schmincke continually test the ingredient and the best of the batch is selected to ensure the highest quality is achieved. This means paint which has dried onto your palette can be easily re-wetted and painted with again.

In order to achieve high standards regarding lightfastness, resolubility and stability, Schmincke Horadam watercolours contains only the finest raw materials.
Supergranulating colours are watercolours with a special property: the combination of at least 2 granulating HORADAM® pigments intensifies this effect to "supergranulation".
The colours are formulated with pigments from different colour ranges, resulting in additional colour changes besides the granulation effect. This novel, natural structure formation of the colours varies depending on the paper and the amount of water used. The rougher the paper, the stronger the granulating effect.
The colours are available in 15 ml tubes. All supergranulating HORADAM® AQUARELL colours have exclusively 4 and 5 stars lightfastness and contain only pigments already known from HORADAM®. The opacity of the colours is predominantly semi-transparent / semi-opaque.
