Gel Mediums offer many ways to build texture. We offer five consistencies from our most viscous Extra Heavy Gel to Soft Gel. Each gel is available in Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Matte finishes. They can be used to create glazes, extend paint and change finishes. Gels are essentially colorless paint, as they utilize the same 100% acrylic polymers as acrylic paint. Gels are also excellent adhesives for collage and mixed media, they dry with excellent flexibility with chemical, water and UV resistance.
High Solid Gels (L-R: Gloss, Matte) are similar in body to Heavy Gels. They contain more acrylic solids and shrink slightly less than other gels. They blend well with colors and will retain brush strokes upon drying. Available in gloss and matte.(Item # Gloss - 3120, Matte - 3130);
Golden Isolation Coat 237ml & 473ml
Isolation Coat is a ready-to-use sealing coat for acrylic paintings. Previously acrylic artists’ only recourse was to dilute Soft Gel Gloss with water (our former and still acceptable recommendation) before applying it to completed acrylic artwork. Isolation Coat eliminates the need to measure and mix while increasing flow and leveling.
Isolation coat is a permanent acrylic medium that seals surface absorbency and allows for improved varnish application and easier varnish removal. Apply one or more layers before varnishing. (Item#7760)

Pastes can be used to achieve a variety of effects and expressions. When used in conjunction with acrylic colors they broaden working properties and expand creative possibilities. Unlike gels, pastes are opaque because they contain Marble Dust or other fillers that create a white or clay-tone finish with a variety of textures and properties. Molding Paste can also be used to create foundations for painting either to create texture over a smoother surface, or to smooth out a textured surface. The absorbent qualities of Molding Paste make it suitable as a ground for nearly every painting and drawing media.
Light Molding Paste - Over 50% lighter than GOLDEN Molding Paste. This dramatic weight reduction is beneficial in creating large artworks and thick layers of material. Light Molding Paste dries to an opaque, matte finish with good flexibility. It is designed to hold stiff peaks for highly textured surfaces and it blends easily with colors.(Item# 3575)

Archival Aerosol Varnish MSA with UVLS is formulated with 100% solvent-based, reversible acrylic co-polymer resin. It is an easy to use spray varnish made with fast drying acetone and a propellant. Properly applied, it creates a durable, even film with the same features as GOLDEN brushable MSA varnish plus, excellent wet/dry state clarity. It resists changes in appearance, remains flexible. It has an adjustable fan spray tip for precise application and reduced overspray. Available in Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin and Matte. Removable for conservation purposes. Golden Matt MSA Varnish w/UVLS-946ml
MSA (Mineral Spirit Acrylic) Varnish with UVLS (Gloss, Satin, Matte) is a Mineral Spirit based Acrylic resin system that forms a tougher, less permeable film than waterborne acrylic varnishes and can be applied to acrylic, oil and alkyd painted surfaces. It reduces dirt penetration and surface marring, offering an extremely level film with less foam and fewer pinholes. Available in Gloss, Satin and Matte, it is removable with Mineral Spirits after drying and is recommended for interior or exterior use. Not for use by children.
